Welcome to Year 2's Class Page!
Welcome back to a new year at Larkrise Primary with new challenges and obstacles to overcome, but I will always be here to support you and your child in anyway we can. On this page you will find all of the key information regarding life in Year 2.
As we will not be able to have a 'Meet the Teacher' meeting all of the information you need will be on the PowerPoint below. This includes PE timings, curriculum, home learning expectations and all of the exciting opportunities we have planned for this year.
If you would like to challenge yourself outside of the classroom there are many fantastic opportunities on Purple Mash, a great online platform. Every child has a login which can be found in their reading diary. It is a great way to practise maths skills, coding and also practise their weekly spellings with a fun interactive quiz. Children can also email me directly with any questions they may have about their learning.
The best way to communicate with me directly is on Class Dojo! If you are not able to access Class Dojo please speak to myself or the office and we can assist you.
Remember to stay in touch and I am here for any questions you might have.

You need to make sure you use the reading diary to record the home reading as this is used to award ‘Reading Stars.’ Books will be changed every Tuesday and Friday. Please read the book more than once so that your child can recognise words rather than sounding them out each time. This will really improve their reading fluency. Also make sure that they can talk about the book and answer questions. You can do this by using the bookmark with before, during and after reading questions I sent home.
Year 2 past SATs papers
I have added these past SATs papers onto our class page for you to have a look and see what the children are expected to achieve by the end of Year 2.
These are 2 reading papers, Spelling paper, Grammar and punctuation paper, Arithmetic paper and a Reasoning paper. Children sit these tests during the month of May
Please have a look and familiarise yourself with the types of questions the children will be asked. In total there are 6 papers.
More information about the SATs will be given nearer to the time.
