School Day

As you may be aware, bubbles, staggered days and children isolating after contact with a positive case no longer form part of the government guidance for schools. This allows us to make significant changes to how we operate from September 2021, as outlined below:

Responding to COVID-19
The school will continue with measures to prevent transmission, such as keeping classrooms well ventilated, frequent handwashing and enhanced cleaning. If you would like to view a copy of our most recent COVID-19 risk assessment, please contact the school office.

If your child has symptoms, has a positive test or is required to quarantine, they must not come to school. Schools have a right to refuse a pupil if we feel it is necessary to do so, to protect other pupils and staff from possible infection.

Schools will no longer be involved in contact tracing. A positive case will be dealt with by the NHS Test and Trace unless the school has an outbreak. This is when the school has ‘several confirmed cases within 14 days.’ A Covid-19 Outbreak Management Plan is available to view below.

Children under 18 and those who are fully vaccinated do not need to isolate if they have been in close contact with a positive case (including a member of their own household). Pupils may be advised by the NHS Test and Trace to take a PCR test, but do not need to isolate while waiting for the result.

Drop off and Pick Up

Morning Routine

The school gates will open at 8:40am.

The KS2 entrance will open at 8:45am. Children in years 2-6 can enter through this door from 8:45-9am.

The EYFS and Reception teachers will greet their class at 8:50am.

Registration for all children will be at 8:55am and registers will close at 9am. Any children that arrive at school after 9am will be marked as late. Any children arriving after 9:30am will receive an unauthorised absent mark for the morning session.

Afternoon Routine

The school gates will open at 3:05pm

In the afternoon, children in EYFS and Year 1 will be dismissed at 3:10pm from their classrooms.

Children in years 2 – 6 will be dismissed from the main playground at 3:15pm.

The wearing of face coverings on the school premises will continue to be a matter of personal choice.

School Uniform and PE Kit
Children are expected to attend school in the correct uniform. Our uniform requirements are available to view under the 'Parents' tab on our school website.

Please note that the children will continue to wear their PE kit to school on the day that PE is scheduled. Class teachers will inform the children and parents of PE days on return to school in September 2021. There will be no P.E on the first day back to school.

Kit List for School
All children should bring a fruit/vegetable snack to school and a water bottle.

Children in years 5 and 6 only should also bring a pencil case containing the following name items for individual use: writing pencils, glue stick, ruler, coloured pencils, rubber, pencil sharpener and felt-tip pens.

Children should also bring a book bag to school.

Children will eat their lunch in the school hall, and we will look to offer a wider menu, to be ordered in advance.

Enrichment Clubs and Visits
Subject to any change in restrictions, we are delighted to offer extra-curricular clubs again for years 1-6. We will send out a club timetable at the beginning of the autumn term. We also look forward to planning exciting school visits and trips for the academic year ahead.

School Events
We expect to host school events attended by parents throughout the academic year, notwithstanding any change in restrictions. A list of dates for your diary will be published at the beginning of the new academic year.

While we are very much looking forward to the return to ‘normality’, we are conscious that the situation may change and we may need to be flexible over the coming weeks and months.

Mrs Osborne or another member of the leadership team will be available on the school playground at the beginning and end of the day if you have any questions or would like a quick chat. Class teachers are also available to talk to at the end of the school day. If you require a confidential or personal appointment, please telephone the school office so that this can be arranged.

It is vitally important that all children, as long as they are fit and well, attend school every day, on time, to maximise learning time. If your child is unwell and unable to attend school, please notify the school office by phone or email.
