Welcome to our Governors’ Page bringing you information about how Larkrise Governors work in partnership with the School, to ensure the best education for your child.
What is the role of the Governing Body?
As a governing body our role is to set the vision, ethos and strategic direction for our school. This year, in conjunction with the school vision and development plan we will:
Support and challenge the school to ensure ongoing improvement and the highest possible progress and attainment of our pupils.
Work in partnership with pupils, staff and parents to create a safe nurturing learning environment.
Oversee and monitor the school financial performance to ensure money is well spent
Set high expectations of behaviour
Work with pupils, staff, parents and FOLS to ensure Larkrise remains at the heart of our community
When do Governors meet?
Full Governing Body meetings take place on a termly basis. In addition there are three smaller committee meetings – Standards and Learning; Finance, Personnel and Premises and Pay - which also meet once per term.
Who sits on the Governing Body?
Our school Governors are volunteers who come from different areas of the community including representatives from the parents and staff. Our current Governing Body includes: -
Chair of Governors
Mr John Hall
Mrs Margaret Brett Mrs Sarah Campion Mrs Patricia Edmonds Miss Chloe Atkins
Mrs Tula Smith (Vice Chairman) Mr Bhavesh Patel Mr Steven Greenwood Mr Piyush Somaiya

How are Governors visible in school?
Governor of the month
Each month one of our Governors will visit the school to look closely at aspects of school life. They then report back to the whole governing body and the school’s leadership team. This ensures that we have knowledge of the whole learning experience so we can provide the school with support, advice and the necessary challenge.
Each Governor has responsibility for either a subject area or an aspect of school life. They regularly meet with the member of staff responsible for that area to receive an update on how it is developing in school.
When possible we will attend special occasions such as Christmas performances and Carol concerts, Easter Celebrations and Sports Days, Musical evenings and Leaver’s Presentations – to share in the children’s learning and enjoyment of school. We also aim to support FOL’s fundraising activities.
Every class has a link Governor who follows their progress from Reception to Year 6, getting to know them by visiting them in their classroom and joining them during special events and class assemblies.
